You may have noticed in some of the previous pictures that Sam had a yellow tint to his skin. Well, he had jaundice. Poor guy. He had to have phototherapy and be under lights at all times except to eat and have his diaper changed. It was very traumatic but he had a very quick recovery and is doing very well now.
Sam had to wear these eye patches to protect his eyes from the lights. 
My mom and I took two hour shifts keeping our eye on Sam. It was a very long night.
